ROAD - Reaching Out Across Durham
Finding your potential
ROAD makes a real difference to the lives of people who aren’t currently in any form of employment and are unable to access current provision. The needs of many people aged 25+ in County Durham are still to be met. Working closely with these individuals, Reaching Out Across Durham (ROAD) provides a full and personalised package of support, and focus on the hardest to reach in a way which overcomes barriers.
ROAD is a partnership of 8 voluntary and community organisations lead by Groundwork NE & Cumbria. ROAD is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund until 2022 as part of the Building Better Opportunities Programme,
Participants receive tailored, 1-to-1 support from our specialists and partner organisations. We engage with those who have chaotic lifestyles, face deep-rooted obstacles, have continuing health issues. Where applicable, we refer participants to the range of excellent programmes already delivered in County Durham. If specific gaps are identified, we provide bespoke delivery around the themes of health and wellbeing, as well as finance, employability and digital skills.
We focus on employability advice and skills that are timely and take account of the local labour market. We provide supported volunteering linked to employment opportunities by working with employers and charities. We offer employment training to individuals with multiple barriers. We celebrate the achievement of those who progress by promoting their stories, involving them in the design of activity and enabling them to demonstrate real life experiences.
